article 2023 Reflection - THANK YOU!

As we approach the end of this remarkable year, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared with you, our valued customer base. It has truly been a year of abundance, growth, and success, and we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude.

Your commitment to quality, sustainability, and the joy of nourishing your families with wholesome, locally sourced produce has been the driving force behind our success. As we've nurtured the livestock and crops on our farms, we've also cultivated a communityβ€”a community that values freshness, sustainability, and the connection between the land and your table.

Here are some of milestones of 2023 that we are celebrating at Kakadoodle, thanks to your support:

🚚 We are at 337 Egg Subscribers (Up from 118 at the beginning of the year).

πŸ₯š We have been able to donate our overproduction of eggs to many non-profits in our area including the Cancer Support Center, Flossmoor Community Church, Center for Food Equity in Medicine, and the National Hook-Up of Black Women.

πŸ“ We started working with Rosemary's Bits and Bobs in Frankfort as our first Pickup Point. For users that live outside of our delivery area, they can opt to pick up their order here.

πŸ† We received a grant from Rick Bayless' Frontera Farmer Foundation to help build a new coop and expand our flock.

🌳 BIG NEWS: We partnered with The Conservation Fund, securing 80 acres near our current farm. Being that our growth has been held back by land, this is a major milestone. Check out our latest YouTube video of our first day on the farm here.

πŸ’ The team is quickly expanding! Audrey & Jesse, a skilled husband and wife duo, join as farm managers on the new land. Roberto, with experience from High Lawn Farm in Massachusetts, contributes remotely from Peru. Dayna's continuing to help with social media and newsletters. Mark and Matt are packing and delivering orders. Jolene, Cindy, Becky, and Lainie all graciously jump in to help with egg washing. And Jacob and Joshua are regulars on the farm, tackling various projects.

πŸš€ WHAT'S NEXT? Remember that "dream" distribution center idea. Well, it's actually becoming a reality. We're transforming an old pole barn on the 80 acres into Kakadoodle's new distribution center. This space will not only serve as a distribution hub but also aim to reconnect the community with the land and our food. Plans include opening it to the public as a pickup point and possibly a retail space.

So much to celebrate and we could not have done it without you. May your holiday season be filled with warmth, joy, and the delectable flavors of the season. Here's to another year of fresh beginnings, shared moments, and the simple pleasure of enjoying the best nature has to offer.
