article 1,000 New Hens and Full Freezers

This morning we welcomed 1,000 new hens to the property—yep, a thousand! Honestly, we didn’t think we’d be getting any new hens at all this year, but a last-minute opportunity came up and we grabbed it. One of them even gifted us our first egg since the bird flu knocked out our flock. Pretty special moment. It feels really good to have chickens back on the farm. They should start laying more in the next couple of weeks!
