article Why Grass Fed Beef?

We started Kakadoodle because we believed it was important to make local pasture raised chicken eggs accessible to our community. After the cancer diagnosis, we started to pay more attention to the foods we put in our bodies and this was the best place for us to start... but it was only the beginning.

As we expand our offerings through our Kakadoodle delivery service, we intentionally select farmers who have the same philosophies as we do on our farm. We want to make sure the animals are cared for and are grazing local regenerative pastures. That's why we were so excited to add Sonas Farms (Manteno, IL) grass fed beef to Kakadoodle!

We've already learned about why pasture raised chicken eggs are better, but why was it important to find local grass fed beef?

Here are 10 Reasons why Grass Fed Beef is better:

1) Grass Fed Beef has Less Total Fat Grass fed beef has approximately 30-40% less fat compared to typical store-bought beef; this is due to the animal’s diet. Grass fed beef animals eat healthy, natural grasses. Typical store-bought beef is fed corn (and other additives) to ‘fatten up’ the animals.

2) Grass Fed Beef is Rich in Antioxidant Vitamins Grass fed beef is rich in antioxidant vitamins, including: Vitamins A, B6, B12, D and E. Antioxidant vitamins are beneficial because they offer skin health, immune support and can even impact your memory and mood.

3) Grass Fed Beef has Significant Omega-3 Fatty Acids Only grass fed beef has a significant amount of Omega-3 Acids (mostly found in fish) and contains Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), which is an important Omega-3 strand. 4) Grass Fed Beef is Lower in Calories Grass fed beef is lower in calories compared to corn-fed beef; this is due to a leaner meat with less unhealthy fat.

6) Vitamin E Enhances the (Red) Color of Grass Fed Beef Grass fed beef has a deeper, more intense red color compared to traditional beef. This is due to higher concentrations of Vitamin E. Vitamin E is beneficial and helps to balance cholesterol levels, reduce free radicals, improve vision and may even lower risks of certain cancers.

7) Grass Fed Beef has Even More (lesser-known) Antioxidants Grass fed beef contains other, lesser-known antioxidants including Glutathione (GT), Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), and Catalase.

8) Grass Fed Beef has More Beneficial Minerals Grass fed beef has more beneficial minerals including Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Selenium, Sodium and Zinc.

9) Grass Fed Beef is a Good Source of Protein Grass fed beef is a great source of protein. Proteins are essential for your body and help build and repair muscle, regulate blood sugar, build strong bones and maintain hormones and soft tissues.
