article Local Food, Real Challenges. And a Path Forward.

Yesterday I spoke with a group organized by Community Food Navigator about building online farmers markets and bringing more people into local food. The room was full of people ready to rethink and rebuild.... and it left me inspired.
With recent funding cuts, many farmers (us included) are facing real challenges. Crops are in planted. Animals are being raised. But programs meant to move that food have vanished, leaving growers in limbo.
I’ve got mixed feelings about those programs, but one thing’s clear: local farmers need new ways forward. Online farmers markets are becoming a serious option, and I was invited to share what we’ve learned at Kakadoodle... what’s working, what’s not, and how we keep local food moving.
There’s something powerful about people coming together to create real, lasting change. It gives me hope.
📖 New Blog Post: Scale or Die
Speaking of lasting change... We just published a new blog post: Scale or Die. It’s a reflection on the mindset we’re embracing as Kakadoodle grows—and why staying true to our mission of local, chemical-free, human-scale farming isn’t always the easiest path, but it’s the one we believe in.
📦 Our New Boxes — “Best of” Is the Crowd Favorite
A couple weeks ago we launched our new Kakadoodle Boxes, and wow—you all really showed up for them. The Best of Box has hands-down been the most popular, and it’s easy to see why.
If you’re new to Kakadoodle or just want a super solid sampler of what we’re all about, this one’s for you. It’s packed with:
- 🥚 Pasture-raised eggs
- 🥩 Ground beef, burger patties, chicken thighs
- 🐖 Breakfast sausage, Italian sausage, and bacon
- 🧈 Cultured butter and cheddar cheese
- 🥬 Leafy greens and microgreens
All chemical-free. All local. All clean, delicious food that actually nourishes your body and supports real farmers.
💚 Thanks for Supporting Local
Reminder: No farmers market in Frankfort this weekend due to the Bluegrass Festival 🎶
But the good news? You can still shop online and support your favorite local farms right from home. We’ll be back next week with a new surprise we are excited to test out!
